Obituary of Michael Federico
Mr. Federico who was a resident of Chatham, passed away suddenly at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with family at his side on Friday, August 14, 2020 at the age of 72.
Michael was born and raised in Stanstead, Quebec, and was the only son of June (Miller) Federico and the late Victor Federico. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne (Corriveau), with whom he recently celebrated 50 years of marriage on April 4, 2020.
Michael was a loving and encouraging father of Christopher Federico (Sue Swayze) of Kitchener and David Federico (Leeanne Nicol) of Oakville. Mr. Federico instilled a passionate heart into his boys which led them both to successful careers and beautiful families. His sons hold great memories of exciting and humorous stories with their father which will be cherished forever more.
To his grandchildren, Michael was lovingly known as Grampy. His signature mustache, warm hugs and his go-to baseball cap are the things that Erin, Simone, Davis and Julianna will hold dear to their hearts. Their Grampy encouraged them to always be the best people they could be, and he loved to watch them grow, learn and explore the world. Michael believed that no matter what age you were, it was never too late to learn and have fun. He expressed this belief continuously to his grandchildren, leading him to continue his education and accomplish a Master of Business Administration at Athabasca University. His accomplishments are inspiring to his grandchildren as they have promised him they will continue to push the limits of their education and continue to make him proud.
Michael retired from a career in upper management, having worked at General Electric, SPAR Aerospace, Navistar and Crown before going to work with his son Christopher in the software industry. Mr. Federico touched many hearts throughout both his career and life with his charm, kindness, and warm smile. He will be missed by many, including his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends being remembered as a great leader and mentor who always brought out the best in people.
Although Michaels’ book of life has now come to a close, his family is comforted in knowing that the chapters in which he wrote himself will continue to provide them with love and inspiration to continue writing their own.
As per Michael's wishes, cremation has taken place with a private family interment to be held in Stanstead, Quebec at a later date.
Donations made in memory of Michael to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
