MALLORY: George "Raeburn” -

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rae Mallory, a lifelong resident of Blenheim. Rae passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August15, 2020 at the age of 98 - one of the few remaining WWII veterans. Born in Blenheim, Rae was the son of the late George and Lily (Pilbeam) Mallory. Beloved husband of 70 years to the late Bessie (Braithwaite) (2013).

Loving and cherished father of Jan Mallory-Wood (Neil) of Blenheim, Mary Adair (Skip) of Blenheim and John Mallory (Cathy) of Chatham. Proud grandfather of Michael Johnston (Melissa) of Kentucky, Jeffrey Johnston (Danica) of Texas, Andrew Johnston of New Jersey; Sarah Eastman (Reid) of Michigan; Jason Mallory (Jillian) of Erieau and Eric Mallory (Liana) of London. Great-grandfather to Lorne, Cash, Sawyer, Alexander, Sebastian, Chloe, Ashley, Harrison, Anderson, Rachel and Ryan.

Predeceased by his siblings Frank Mallory (late Margaret) and Mary Doey (late Carl).

Rae was an incredible role model who was known for his kind demeanor and obsession for accuracy. He was fondly known as "Chief Rae" to those who knew him and was an inspiration to all who came in contact with him. A kind and caring family man, Chief Rae was gifted with a brilliant mind and a heart of gold.

Rae served in both the British Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy while achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer-Engine Room Artificer and the status of a “Loyal and Trusty Bluenose”. His Artificer skills proved invaluable in his post war career as an engineer and businessman. Rae was a master of design in both high quality products and durable assembly equipment. His ingenious designs and productive equipment made Mallory Hardware Products a respected leader in the global marketplace.

A special thank you to Dr. Martha Clendenning and Rae’s amazing personal care team.Your incredible care helped him enjoy his bountiful life and made it possible for him to remain in his own home.

A Private Family Service will be held with an interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim.

Donations made in memory of Rae to the St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation: Ivey Eye Institute, Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
