Obituary of Jackie Walker

Walker, Jacqueline Grace (nee Garrod)

Jackie Walker passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance - Chatham on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the age of 91.

Born on February 2, 1929, Jacqueline was the daughter of the late Roy & Margaret (nee Dundas) Garrod.

She is reunited with her loving husband, Walter Frederick Walker (1986) and will always be remembered by children, Richard & Sylvia Walker, Linda & Wayne Wonnacott, Cathy & Don Couture and Leslie & Jerry Fisher.

Dearest grandma of Erica Thomas (Andrew), Erin Walker, Cheryl Stewart (Mike), Brent Wonnacott, Kristen Couture, Jill Richardson (Brian), Andrew Fisher (Jesse), Adam Fisher (Caitlin), and Austin Fisher (Jesse).

Great-grandma of Zachary & Alyssa Thomas, Avery & Chase Stewart.

Sister of Geraldine Deneau (the late Alex), Gerald Garrod (the late Marion), the late Lloyd Garrod (Patricia) and sister-in-law of Bob Walker (the late Shirley).

She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Jackie graduated in 1950 as a Registered Nurse and worked at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chatham. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family and loved her home. Following the passing of Wally, Jackie worked at Alexander Funeral Home for a few years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends. She was very devoted to her family. Jackie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Alzheimer Society especially to Jolanda, Michelle, Maggie, Hayley who offered home care which allowed her to stay in her home til almost 91. A sincere appreciation to Colleen, Ian and staff from the Village on the Thames for their care during mom's stay and to the 3rd floor staff of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, especially Kayley and Ashley.

Family to receive friends on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A Funeral Service to take place on Saturday at 12:00 pm at the Funeral Home with Visitation from 11:00 am until the Service Time. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, those hoping to attend the Visitation and Funeral Service must schedule a time online at https://signup.com/go/QJaxBRo or phone us at 519-351-2040. No one will be permitted at the Visitation and Funeral Service without a scheduled time. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario has mandated that everyone attending must wear a mask. With Covid-19 restrictions you likely will be seated in an overflow seat.

Burial to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
