Obituary of Giacomo Pietro Craievich

CRAIEVICH: Giacomo (Jake) Pietro February 21, 1940 - October 21, 2020

Born to Pietro and Teresa Craievich of Martinčići, Croatia.

Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

Beloved husband of Judy and devoted father of Tim Craievich (Erica), Dennis Craievich (Paige), Pamela Hunter (Doug), Melaina Craievich (Jeff), Marco Tesolin (Carmella), and Melanie Szegodi (Frank)

Fondly remembered by his sister Rosa Lozer Bacci (the late John - 2010), brother of the late Vito Craievich (2013), Brother-in-Law Gerry Bruneel (Bonnie), and late Roger Bruneel (2019) (Helen)

Jake was a proud, fun loving Nonno and Grandpa to 10 grandchildren.

Megan, Matthew, Andrew and Dylan Craievich, Eric, and Rose Hunter, Kayne and Blade Tesolin, Kiana and Alicia Szegodi.

He will be greatly missed by his lifelong best friend Ben Turato, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jake enjoyed time spent sharing homemade meals and wine with family and friends.  He had quick wit and dry humour and a gift for making every child feel special.  He enjoyed fishing, cruising in his ‘58 Edsel, tending to his vegetable garden, playing 10 pin and lawn bowling. He was a fan of the Toronto Maple leafs and European soccer.  He was appreciated for his kindness, love and willingness to help others.  Jake was the proud owner of Jake’s Painting and Decorating for over 30 years after working at Motor Wheel for many years.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Huffman and staff at Thamesview Family Health Team, Dr. Xenocostas, all the caring staff of the LHIN, Nurse Practitioner Lisa Babcock, and the entire VON Health Team, with special thanks to nurse Stacey Ronse, PSW and E Care for their wonderful care.

Friends & family will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, on Sunday, October 25th, 2020 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm.
