Obituary of Jean Martin
Martin: M. Jean, R.N. (nee Gilbert) -
A resident of the Village on the Ridge, Ridgetown and formerly Lake Erie along the Dyke Rd, Jean Martin passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the age of 95. Born in Howard Township, Jean was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (West) Gilbert.
Beloved wife of the late Paul Martin (2002).
Dear sister of the late Margaret Fraser, the late Fred Gilbert (late Helen) and the late George Gilbert (late Dorothy).
Much loved aunt to Brent Gilbert and his wife Adrienne of Palmerston; Marcia Gilbert of Ridgetown; Vickie and her husband Ron Mandeno of Ridgetown; Donald Gilbert and his wife Nancy of Blenheim.
Also survived by great nieces, and a great nephew as well as many great-great nieces and nephews.
Special friend to Rev. Merv Tubb of the Village. Predeceased by her good friend Kevin Mailloux.
Jean graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Public General Hospital school of Nursing in 1946, retiring in 1963 when she married the love of her life, Paul.
Jean was a member of the PGH Nurses Alumni, attending their yearly banquets and keeping in touch with many of her colleagues. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Ridgetown Golf Club.
Jean loved living on the water where she could better appreciate nature, having a love for all animals, birds, flowers and her garden, which she tended to with loving care.
Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Monday, October 26, 2020 from 11:00am - 1:00pm. The Bereavement Authority has mandated that all attendees wear a mask. A Private Family Service will take place. The service will be Livestreamed at 1:30pm on the funeral home website.
