Crowston, Jean (nee Shoemaker)

Heaven welcomed their newest angel, Jean Crowston, on the evening of Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home at the age of 86.

Born in Harwich Township, she was the daughter of the late Arthur & Jessie (nee Pickering) Shoemaker. 

Jean is reunited with her late husband of 51 years, Clarence William Crowston (2010). 

She will be deeply missed by her children, Dale Crowston & Debbie Newcombe, and her husband Ron. 

Grandma was appreciated and adored by grandchildren, Warrant Officer Bryan Crowston, C.D. and wife Sheri; Spencer Newcombe, Breanna Newcombe and partner Mike Nettleton, and great-grandchildren, Lily Crowston, Linda Crowston, Kazaih Crowston & Max Crowston, Rio Eastcott, Eleanor Rietdyk & Jax Nettleton.

Sister of Muriel Teetzel (Cardie), Beverly Shoemaker (Shirley) and the late Kenith Shoemaker. Predeceased by her sister, Donna Anderson (the late Bob), brother, Murray Shoemaker, brother-in-law, Bud Crowston, Marlo Crowston (the late Mary), and sister-in-law, Cecilia Laidlaw (the late Ivan).

Survived by sister-in-law, Jean Shoemaker, sister-in-law of Myrtle Irwin (the late Orland), Lois Alton (the late Clayton), and Mona Crowston (the late Bud).

She is survived by several nieces & nephews. 

Jean served with the Royal Canadian Air Force for a brief time before working in the Legal Profession as a Freelance Title Searcher for over 45 years in Chatham. Her meticulous nature was useful in a role she embraced with ferocity to make sure everything was done right and on time. In her Sports Career, she was a competitive player leading her to place a spot on the Canadian Senior Women's Olympic Team in racquetball and baseball, before her retirement in 1998. During retirement, Jean and Clarence enjoyed their time traveling and spending time at their trailer. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. 

Cremation has taken place with a Private Family Interment at a later date.
