Obituary of Helen Bernice Gagner
GAGNER: Helen Bernice (nee Jack) -
A resident of the former Harwich Township, passed away peacefully at Meadow Park Nursing Home in Chatham with family by her side on Thursday, January 14, 2021 in her 97th year. Daughter of the late Gordon and Ella (Bacheldor) Jack, Helen was predeceased by her husband Armand (1990), her son, Larry (2007), her dear friend who lived at the Gagner residence for over 50 years, Francoise Diraison (2013), her daughter-in-law, Marion (2010) and her son-in-law, Andy Jones (1979), as well as her twin brothers, Gordon (Vi) Jack, Garnet (Grace) Jack and her sister, Verna (Rob) Parry.
Helen will be missed by her children, David (Jo-Anne), Lisa (Guy Graham), Danny (Kathy), Rick, Lynn (Dennis Boylan) and Kathy (Dick O'Neill). She will be remembered fondly by her daughter-in-law Diane Gagner. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Angela Gagner.
Armand and Helen farmed together in the former Dover and Harwich Townships for forty-six years. Her family encouraged her to share her cooking talents with others by creating "Helen's Country Harvest". She was proud of her products and enjoyed this dream for 30 years. Helen opened her heart to many along the way and shared a special affection for Michelle Legue and Sherran Mitchell who worked tirelessly at her side at Helen's Country Harvest.
Mom's final years were spent at Eden Villa in Chatham from 2013 until she moved to Meadow Park in 2020. We wish to express our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at both Eden Villa and Meadow Park and to Dr. Biondi for the kind and compassionate care our mother received.
Cremation has taken place. A private interment will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Ridgetown.
In lieu of floral tributes, those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to consider the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
