Obituary of Dick Kloostra

KLOOSTRA: Richard "Dick"- The Lord called home into his loving arms, Dick Kloostra, on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the age of 89. Born January 18th, 1932 in Ness, Friesland, the Netherlands, to Walter and Ellen Kloostra, later immigrating to Canada with the whole family in May 1952.

Married to his loving wife Grace (nee Postma) on October 15, 1955 and has five children Walter (Donna), Shirley (Chris), Rob (Penny), the late Paul (Shelley) and Ken (Allison). Will always be remembered by his 9 grandchildren Kathryn, Kyle, Stephanie, Hayden, Kory, Emilee, Valerie, Keaton and Archer and 3 great-grandchildren AvaLee, Aidan and Avery and one great-granddaughter on the way.

Fondly remembered by his siblings Sieger (late Lena), Connie (Hank), the late Bill (Christine), Joe (Henny), Simon (Brenda), Wally (Corrine). Also survived by many in-laws.

Dick was a faithful member of the First Christian Reformed Church, serving as an Elder, Board Member, Cadet leader and choir member. Dick travelled with his loving wife Grace to many places and enjoyed many years in Florida as Snow Birds. Dick loved his gardening (which we called his Back 40), always providing his children with fresh vegetables.

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 11:30am until 12:15pm. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario have mandated that all attendees must wear a mask. A Private Family Celebration of Dick's life will be available by live-stream by CLICKING HERE at 1:00pm on Monday, March 15, 2021 with Pastor Nate Van Denend officiating. A Private interment will follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Dick to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
