Obituary of Trudy Postma
POSTMA: Trudy (Den Haan) -
A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Palmyra, Trudy Postma passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with her family at her side on Monday, March 22, 2021 at the age of 86.
Born in Amsterdam, Holland, The Netherlands, Trudy was the daughter of the late William and Aafje (Roemer) Den Haan.
Beloved wife of 67 years to John Postma.
Loving mother of Mike Postma (Pat) of Langton, William Postma (Elizabeth) of Chatham, Richard Postma (Lisa) of Chatham, Eunice Postma of Bothwell and John Postma of Kingston.
Proud Grandma to Jill Vandermeersch (Dave), Alex Postma (Kim), Katrina Postma, Nicholas Postma, Dillon Postma, Grace Postma and Spencer Postma.
Great-Grandma to Caidan and Evie.
Dear sister to Ellie Berends of Cambridge. Predeceased by two sisters Corrie and Jean.
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Trudy worked on the farm with her husband John, raising five children and numerous foster children. She loved going to polka dances and visiting with her friends at their trailer at Clearville Park. She enjoyed needlepoint, gardening, romance novels and her weekly Bingo trips with family.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Those hoping to attend are required to register online at (https://signup.com/go/acQmweE) or phone the funeral home at 519-351-2040. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario have mandated that all attendees wear a mask. A Private Family Service and an interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Trudy to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
