Obituary of Marilyn Armstrong

ARMSTRONG: Marilyn June (nee Agar) -

A lifelong resident of Chatham-Kent, Marilyn Armstrong passed away at the Riverview Gardens with family at her side on Monday, May 31, 2021 at the age of 87.

Born in Chatham, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Ross and Luella (Brown) Agar.

Beloved wife of the late Lorne Shaw (1982) and George Armstrong.

Cherished mother of Jennifer Courtice (Doug) of Chatham, Andrew Shaw of Chatham, David Shaw (Jennifer) of Waterloo and stepson Kelly Armstrong (Carmen) of Chatham.

Proud grandmother of Erin Courtice, Jacquie Courtice, Jacob Shaw, Megan Shaw, Sarah Shaw, Dylan Tomchuk, Randy Armstrong and Kayla Armstrong.

Dear sister of Fran Buncombe of Whitby, Helen Livsey (Al) of Chatham and Brian Agar (Judy) of Chatham.

Sister-in-law to the late Cameron Shaw (Marilyn), Evelyn Shaw and the late Janet McIntyre.

Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Marilyn began her career at Canada Trust where she met many lifelong friends. She continued her career as a legal secretary until her retirement in the mid 90's. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, sewing, crafting and playing cards with family and friends.

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 2:00 - 5:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. Those planning to attend are required to register online at (https://signup.com/go/MuhAMho) or by phoning the funeral home. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario have mandated that all attendees wear a mask. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at Arnold Cemetery at a later date.
