Obituary of Helen Bisschop
BISSCHOP: Helen Louise (nee Mortier) -Went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the age of 75.
Born in Chatham, Helen was the daughter of the late Archie and Mary (DeBaene) Mortier.
Beloved wife of 42 years to the late Ralph (April, 2021).
Loving mother of Karrie (Mark) Gevaert of Merlin, Jason Bisschop of London, Corey (Joanna) Bisschop of London, Genesia (Scott) Schoneck of Calgary Alberta. Sadly missed by 7 grandchildren, Travis (Ally) and Brianna Gevaert, Avery, Noah and Reese Bisschop, Archer and Sullivan Schoneck.
Predeceased by infant Son Brodie Ryan in 1982, and infant brother Robert.
Dear sister to Gary (Deb) Mortier.
Sister-in-law to Art (Audrey) Bisschop, Hilbert Bisschop, Bill (late June)Bisschop, Albert (Audry) Bisschop, Tim (Cathy) Bisschop; Jessie (late Case) Timmerman, Henny (Bram) Schoon, Glenda (late Jim) King, Nancy (Bill) Vandermeer, the late John Bisschop, the late Henry (Rita) Bisschop and the late Harm (Annie) Bisschop.
Also missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many more extended family.
She was a member of Praise Fellowship Church in Chatham where she set-up for VBS along with her late husband Ralph. She volunteered at the church office, did their web design, assisted with the deaf ministry, ran media for the church and was given carte blanche to decorate the church. She was also responsible for orchestrating Operation Christmas Child and the Adopt a Child Christmas Program in Chatham. Helen enjoyed her time with her Wednesday Knitting group, who made blankets, scarves, hats and mitts for those in need.
Helen ran logistics for Navistar and retired in 1996 after over 30 years of service.
Helen's family was her life. She will be remembered for her strength, her compassion and her love for Jesus.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Those planning to attend are required to register online or by phoning the Funeral Home. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario have mandated that all attendees wear a mask. A Private Family Service will be live-streamed on the Funeral Home website at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 with Pastor Michael Koppes officiating by CLICKING HERE. Interment to follow at Arnold Cemetery.
