HOLMES: Donald "Don" Edward -
A lifelong resident of Chatham, Don Holmes passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with his wife Kathy at his side on Monday, October 18, 2021 at the age of 77.
Born in Chatham, Don was the son of the late Robert and Eleanor (McCormick) Holmes. Son-in-law to Mary Ellen Mortier (Gilbert) and the late Albert "Bert" Mortier.
Don shared his life with Kathy (nee Mortier) for over 50 years.
Father to Lisa, Dana and Dawna.
Grandfather to four grandchildren.
Brother to Harriett Green (Bill), Rick Holmes (Ann) and the late Jack Holmes (late Kay).
Brother-in-law to Ken Mortier (Caroline), Doug Mortier (Betty) and Bonnie Srnicek (Tony).
Don will be missed by his four-legged canine baby Pearl.
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Don retired from Chatham Hydro after 35 years of service.
He loved to collect antique John Deere tractors and to ride around on his four-wheeler.
As per Don's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Private family arrangements will take place.
Donations made in memory of Don to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
