Obituary of James Arthur Bedford
BEDFORD: James "Jim" Arthur -
A resident of Chatham, James Bedford passed away at home on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the age of 91.
Born in Zone Township, James was the son of the late Edgar (1968) and Grace (Allison) Bedford (1982).
Beloved husband of 59 years to the late Beverly (nee Lipscombe) (2015).
Loving father of the late Cynthia "Cindy" Burton (2020) (late Pat, 2020), Carolann Passingham (Gerry), Catherine Mead (late Jimmy, 2020), Jamie Bedford and Christina Shaw (Kevin).
Proud Papa to Trevor Burton, Terri Towstiuc (Jordan), Steven Passingham (Natashia Bishop), Jeremy Passingham, Jessica Mead, Zachary Shaw and Chloe Shaw.
Very proud G-Papa to Mia, Evan, Ryleigh, Kayleigh, Carson and Landon.
Predeceased by his siblings, Edgar Bedford (2018) (late Betty, 2015), Jean Orson (2013) (late Don, 1980), Rachel Clark (2013) (Ross, 1997).
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
James retired as a First Class Constable in 1985 after serving the Chatham City Police for 34 years.
James was a member of the Parthenon Masonic Lodge #267 AF and AM, the Chatham Lodge of Perfection, the Rose Croix Chatham Valley, Moore Sovereign Consistory (Hamilton) and the MOCHA Temple (London). Past President of the ACHOM Shrine Club in Chatham. Recipient of 60 year jewel with the Parthenon Lodge. Life member of the Imperial Club of Chatham. Life member of Ontario Police Association.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm.
Those planning to attend are required to register online at (https://signup.com/go/NymDpyG) or by phoning the Funeral Home. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario have mandated that all attendees wear a mask.
A Private Family Service will be live-streamed at 11:00am on Monday, December 20, 2021 on the Funeral Home Website. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
Donations made in memory of James to the Shriner's Children's Hospitals and Community Living Chatham-Kent would be appreciated.
