Obituary of Dorothy Keats
KEATS: Dorothy Irene (Varney) -
Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the age of 100.
Born in Raleigh Township, she was the daughter of Bertram and Gertrude (Slade) Varney.
Beloved wife of the late James Keats (1991). Loving mother of Dianne Inwood and Gary Keats (Laurie).
Grandmother of Carrie Keats (Richard Burrows), Richard Keats (Annie), Sheena Galbraith (Terry Dulong) and Alicia Galbraith.
Also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, one nephew Jack Varney (Mary), one niece Marliene Dennie (Al).
Predeceased by sisters Elsie Lefaive (2007), Gladys Tournageau (2002) and one brother Robert Varney (1982).
She was a long-time member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Active Lifestyle Centre. Dorothy loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever she could.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 2:00 - 5:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 100 McNaughton Ave W., Chatham at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 8, 2022. Those planning to attend the visitation or the service are required to register online on the Funeral Home website or by phoning the Funeral Home. Those wishing to attend the visitation at the Funeral Home must show proof of vaccination before entering. This is a non-negotiable requirement of the family. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario have mandated that all attendees must wear a mask at the visitation and the service. A private family interment will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
Donations made in memory of Dorothy to Emmanuel Baptist Church or Outreach for Hunger would be appreciated by her family.
