Obituary of Robert Westra

Westra: Robert It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Westra on February 26, 2022 at the age of 88. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Tina Westra (nee Monsma). Dear father to Jim and Jane Westra, Joanne and Clarence Leistra, Andy and Patty Westra and Henny Westra. Proud grandfather to Celeste, Lauren, Jenna and step-grandfather to Kelly and Jenny, and great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren. Dear brother to Wippie Seigersma, Fillipus Westra and Aaltje Buwalda. Born in Friesland (the Netherlands), son of the late Jelle and Hendrikje (nee Vander Veen) Westra. The family immigrated to Ontario in May 20th of 1968 where he built a notable career and a well known construction company- Westhoek Construction. He retired in 1994 and carried on an active life including his pastimes of fishing, woodworking and traveling. Robert will be forever remembered as a very optimistic and friendly person. He was a very generous, helpful man with a great sense of humour and will be dearly missed. Family and friends will be received in the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In keeping with Robert's wishes, cremation to follow.
