Obituary of Laddie Spiruda
SPIRUDA: Ladislav (Laddie) John -
Laddie, in his 83rd year, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side at Chapman House, Owen Sound on March 25, 2022. Beloved husband of 62 years to Carol (nee Stennett).
He was born in Chatham, Ontario on August 5, 1939 to the late Frank and Frances (Lorenc) Spiruda. Laddie farmed for many years in Highgate before moving to Tara in 2018.
He was the dear father of two daughters, Jean James (Rob McKinlay) of Chatham and Janet (Keith) Robinson of Allenford. Proud Grandfather of Becky (Nick) Febel, Cassie (Kyle) Verburg, Dylan Gallagher (Ali Williams) and Teaghan Gallagher. Poppa to Lucas Febel, Ayden and Addyson Verburg.
Survived by brother John (Marilyn) Spiruda of Sarnia, sister-in-law Louise Spiruda of St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Sister and Brother-in-laws, Judy (John) DeRooy, Shirley (Don) Grant, Helen Stennett, Jane Stennett, Bill Stennett, Ron (Donna) Stennett. Also remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by Brothers Charles (June) Spiruda, Frank Spiruda and infant Joseph Spiruda, Brother-in-laws Wayne Stennett and Don Stennett.
As per Laddie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be conducted at McKinlay Funeral Home,76 Main St.E. Ridgetown on Friday April 1, 2022 at 2:00pm.
We encourage you to join us via live stream to keep everyone safe and respect social distancing. For those wishing to receive the family, they may attend the funeral home for one hour before the service. It is requested that all attendees wear a mask. Everyone is welcome to join them at the Highgate Legion following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 335 Highgate, Chapman House (Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce), Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or a local charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
