Obituary of Lois Burke

Burke: Lois Fern (Watson) -

Formerly of Blenheim, Lois Burke  passed away at the Copper Terrace Long Term Care Home with her family at her side on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the age of 100. 

Born in Wallaceburg,  Lois was the daughter of the late John and Edith (Petch) Watson. 

Beloved wife of 37 years to Carl Burke (1984).

Loving and cherished mother to Linda Tarcea (Rick) of Blenheim. 

Step-grandmother to John McInnes (Leona) and step-great-grandmother of Liam McInnes (Tegan) all of Calgary. 

Predeceased by her sister Marjorie Watson, half-sisters Ada Ferguson (William) and Bertha Hodgson (James), half-brother Orin Watson (Mary) and dear friend Ron Nudds. 

Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. 

Lois was a secretary at M.J. Smith Seed and Feed Co., Chatham where she met Carl, and then at Public General Hospital until she married Carl in 1947. They farmed on the 3rd Concession, Harwich Township, for 17 years, when they sold the farm and moved into Blenheim. Carl continued trucking locally until 5 months before his death in 1984. Together, they operated the Christmas Tree Farm for over 20 years, exporting Christmas Trees to Buffalo, New York. 

Lois was a woman of faith with a disciplined work ethic. She loved horses, growing up with them on the farm in Wallaceburg. 

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 10:00am until the Celebration of her life at 11:30am with Rev. Bill Terris officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim. A Live-stream of the service will be available on the Funeral Home website. 

Donations made in memory of Lois to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or Royal Canadian Legion Br. 185 Blenheim would be appreciated.
