Dear Jane, Darryl and Family:
I learned of Ron's passing today in the Chatham Voice but the visitations and service are all over. Please know that I certainly would have attended both had I known in time. Ron was a tremendous friend to me and to my Dad, in fact to the entire Colby family from my grandfather on down. We spent many hours discussing life while on survey jobs in Howard Township. He always listened to me even when I was a kid and I always looked forward to jobs when Ron would be there. He taught me a lot of things that I carry and think about often. Ron was part of the McGregor Bay crew as well. He enriched my life in so many ways. I am saddened by his passing and that there were not enough chances to visit in recent years with the pandemic. Sincere condolences and deepest respect and love.

I am saddened to learn of Ron's passing. I have known Ron for over 30 years. He was a mentor for me when I was at Chatham Township and he was at Howard. I also had the privilege of working with Ron as members of the Chatham/Kent Drainage Board. He worked to ensure that the projects reviewed by the Board met the needs of the residents of Chatham/Kent. He always provided very astute input to the Board meetings. He will be missed

Our sincere condolences are extended to Ron's Family at this time of his passing. He is a very memorable part of our community especially where his care and dedicated services for our roads were concerned. And that care extended beyond the roads. One evening he called us to inquire of our dog as he realized she had been accidentally scooped up and tossed by the snow plow blade. He was quite concerned but alternately relieved to learn that she did indeed survive and recover from the incident. That was just Ron . . . always looking out for everyone and making time to respond to questions or concerns in a most friendly manner. Ron was a wonderful person and we are honoured to have known him. I first met Ron when my family lived on Gosnell Line. I wasn't very old & he was a teenager but even with the age difference he was nice to me. My parents really liked & appreciated the Gelderland family down the road.
John first met Ron at the dealership and they shared many stories over the years.

Dear Jane & Family - our sincere condolences on the passing of Ron. He was such a good man and sure did a lot for our community. He always had a smile whenever you saw him. He would often stop us when we were out delivering mail to see if there were any bad roads. Also he & the guys would come to our rescue when we were out in the snowy weather - drifts caught us many times but you know "the mail must go through".

So many memories shared with this family. I was so lucky to have been included in their vacations and outings. I would not have experienced the many adventures of my childhood, had it not been for them. Ron leading the way. Jane tolerating four kids in tow. Very thankful for all they have done for me. Many memories I had forgotten have flooded back; it was Ron who gave me my first beer!
