Wanamaker, James (Roy)
Roy Wanamaker passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 90.
He was the son of the late Henry & Lexi (MacKenzie) Wanamaker.
He is reunited with his late wife, Carolyn Wanamaker (Brackstone, 2017).
Dear father of David & Marilyn Wanamaker, Sharon Lowell, Jim Wanamaker, and Paul & Shauna Wanamaker.
Sadly missed by his grandchildren; Jacquie Ieropoli (Mike), Jennifer Wanamaker, Ellen Wanamaker, Daniel Gilhuis (Erika), Aaron Gilhuis (Nicole), Ben Wanamaker, Hannah Wanamaker and Rebekah Wanamaker.
Great-grandfather of 5.
Brother of Carol Wright (Wayne), and sister-in-law, Margaret Wanamaker.
Predeceased by siblings, Mary, Grace, Jessie, Joan, and Jim.
Missed by many nieces & nephews.
Roy retired from C.K.S.S after a 40 year teaching career of History, English & Guidance Counseling.
He & Carolyn were active members at Emmanuel Baptist Church and very involved in many ministries over the years.
Roy loved the Lord with all his heart and was an avid sports fan.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
The Funeral Service will take place at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 100 McNaughton Ave. West, Chatham on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Visitation will precede the Service from 10:00 am until 11:00.
Interment will be held in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Roy can be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church or to Meals on Wheels.
