Maynard: Thomas James -
A resident of Chatham, Thomas Maynard passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance - Chatham on October 14, 2022 at the age of 84.
Born in Chatham, Thomas Maynard was the son of the late Calvin Maynard and Edith (nee Beaudin) Maynard and step-son of Jack Edwards.
Beloved husband of 61 years to Janet Maynard (nee Nead).
Dear father to Jim Maynard (Jeanette), Debbe Maynard , Carolin Vermeersch. Father-in-law of John Behnke. Proud grandfather to John Jr. (Deb), Dennis, Joshua (Breanna), Jacob (Jessica), Candice (Alex), Jordan (Jessica), Megan (Brad), Brooke (Jeremy), Rozlyn (Mike); great-grandfather to Cali, Lillian, Michael, Kadence, Kharington, Maia, Sadie, Kyra, Liam, Hudson, Aenghus, Monroe, Mary Frances, Presley, Jude and Charley.
Survived by his sister Jean Kemp. Predeceased by his siblings, Don, George, Ken, Mabel, Ella and Shirley. Predeceased by his grandson Matthew and great-granddaughter Abigail.
Tom will also be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and special in-laws.
Tom grew up in Merlin and worked many years in Chatham-Kent in road construction as a driver with Seal-On Paving. Tom enjoyed camping and boating when his family was young. He loved old cars, big machinery and collecting old International tractors. He was an avid armchair golf enthusiast. His children's fondest memories are gathered around the T.V. to hear Dad's laughter during the Bugs Bunny Road Runner Hour. Tom and Janet enjoyed many road trips and Sunday drives with a Harvey's milkshake.
Tom shone most brightly with the arrival of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing cuddles in his recliner and granddaughters pampering Grandpa by doing his hair.
Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St. Chatham on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until the Funeral Service to celebrate Tom's life at 2:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.
Donations made in memory of Tom to the Chatham-Kent Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
