Obituary of Gordon Asquith Brooks

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Gordon Asquith Brooks on Tuesday  October 18th , 2022 with his daughter by his side at The Village on the Ridge, LTC in Ridgetown at the age of 86.
Loving father to Sharon Lesley Jochim (Michael)
Younger brother to Marian Liddle (Maurice), and Uncle to their three children Jane, Susan and Peter.

Gordon was born in Pontefract, West Yorkshire England and the youngest child to Thomas and Dorothy (nee Asquith) Brooks.   Beloved husband to Doreen Brooks (nee Crisp), who predeceased him in 2007. Gordon followed in his father’s footsteps and became a joiner (carpenter). In 1975 he moved to Canada with his wife Doreen, daughter Sharon and their 6 month old Cairn Terrier Sparky.   Gordon continued his career in carpentry and eventually owned his own business until retirement when he and Doreen moved to Meaford Ontario, a place they fell in love with on their many trips fishing there.  Gordon loved to play golf, darts, 5 pin bowling, puttering in his greenhouse and be out in his boat on Georgian Bay fishing any chance he could.  

Upon the passing of Doreen Gordon moved to Ridgetown to be with family.  Unfortunate injuries from his construction career put him in a wheelchair and he became a resident of The Village on the Ridge, LTC. This is where he made so many new friends who soon became his extended family.  
Many thanks go to the Nurses, PSW’s, Kitchen Staff, Recreations Staff and all who crossed paths with Gordon during his time in The Village on the Ridge, he was treated like family and for that his family is forever grateful.

Cremation has taken place and a private ceremony of life will take place in the future.
