Obituary of Daniel James Dillon

DILLON: Daniel James -

A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Merlin, Dan Dillon passed away peacefully with family at his side at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at the age of 80.

Born in Chatham, Dan was the son of the late Herbert and Ada (Wellwood) Dillon.

Beloved husband of 58 years to Elaine (nee Dries).

Loving father of Cindy Howe (Tim) of London, Shelley Dillon (Mike Burke) of Erieau, the late Rick Dillon (1993) and Terry Dillon (Carolyn) of London.

Proud Grandpa to Devin Howe, A.J. Howe, Jilene Howe, Nicole Smit (Clinton) and Matthew Bellamy.

Great-Grandpa to Lezley and Chloe Dillon.

Brother to the late Howard Dillon (late Theresa), Charlene Abray (George), Margaret Milliman (late Jim), the late Bill Dillon (Connie), Mary Collins, Rosemary Millar (Doug), the late Bob Dillon (Vicki), the late Carl Dillon (Harriet), and Diane Colvin (Bill).

Brother-in-law to the late Charlie Dries (late Sandy), the late Joe Dries (late Terry), Joanne Sullivan (Ron), Raymond Dries (Lorraine), the late Helen Dries-Cree (David) and Edward Dries (Liz).

Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Dan farmed the family farm in Merlin for many years and worked at Navistar for over 30 years.

Dan enjoyed his winters in Florida and a good game of euchre.

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 3:00 - 5:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. Vigil Prayers will be held Thursday at 7:00pm.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 5773 Tenth Line, Merlin at 11:00am on Friday, December 30, 2022. Interment to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
