Obituary of Eunice Simpson

SIMPSON: Eunice -

We are very sad to announce the passing of Eunice Simpson, of Ridgetown, on Tuesday Jan. 3, 2023 in her 88th year. She was much loved by her children Carol Clarke (John), Carl (Marianne) Simpson, and Kelly Simpson. A wonderful Grandmother to Mat, Josh (Sara), and Brooke Clarke, Nathan and Steven Simpson (Kyrianne), Jesse (Beth) and Jared (Samantha) Simpson and Great Grandmother to Theodore Clarke. Eunice will be missed by sister-in-law Marilyn Simpson, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Russell Simpson and parents Ross and Mae Sherwin and siblings Doris, Helen, and Jack.

Eunice was born and raised on a farm just outside of Brighton, ON which led to her lifelong love of animals and plants. She spent the majority of her life in Ridgetown and was extremely active in her community. She was honoured with the Chatham Kent Volunteer of The Year Award in recognition for her many hours of volunteer work with such groups as the Erie Street United Church, Horticultural Society, Minor Hockey, Meals On Wheels, Cozy Quilts, Blood Donor Clinics, Clear Creek Forest Nature Reserve, New To You, Belarus Relief, as well as numerous others. Over the years she also rescued many cats, kittens, and wildlife.

We would like to thank the staff at Village On The Ridge for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be on Friday Jan. 6 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will take place Sat Jan. 7 at 11:00a.m. at McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St. East, Ridgetown.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Another Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation, Erie Street United Church, or The Ridgetown Horticultural Society.
