Obituary of Margaret Twigg
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Margaret Twigg, announce her passing, peacefully, on January 6, 2023 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, at the age of 83, surrounded by the love of her family, after a lengthy hospital stay.
Margaret was born in Chatham, Ontario in 1939 and was the youngest and Canadian born child of Steve and Emma (Knill) Zinner. She is reunited, in God’s arms, with her parents, her loving husband Bev (1995), and her sisters Rose (George) Vincze, Elizabeth Zinner and brothers Steve (Irene) Zinner, Joseph (Anne) Zinner and Frank Zinner.
Margaret was the proud mother of sons David and Darryl (Sarah) and was the cherished grandmother of grandsons Dustin (Tenille), Ian (Wesley), Stephen (Kaleigh) and Hunter. She often referred to them as the special, handsome men in her life! She was unconditional in her love and was so happy to celebrate many of their successes.
In addition, Margaret was blessed with many amazing nieces and nephews who enriched her life in so many ways. She also cherished her life-long friends with whom she shared so many special times and milestones and who supported her through prayers and kindness during her illness.
Margaret was a retired legal secretary, having worked in many Chatham law offices over the years. In later years, she served as a volunteer with the local bereavement program and within the church. She enjoyed traveling with family to destinations throughout Canada and the United States.
Margaret loved gardening and her backyard was a source of pride with her beautiful container arrangements and flower gardens. She truly had a green thumb! It was a wonderful setting for many outdoor barbecues and gatherings over the years.
Family and friends can celebrate Margaret’s life during visitation at McKinley’s Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, Ontario on Thursday, January 12, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Parish, 52 Croydon St. Chatham, Ontario. Interment will follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Chatham. Donations can be made to the Terry Fox Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
A special thank-you is extended to the neurosurgery staff of Windsor Regional Hospital and the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, particularly the compassionate ICU department, for their care of Margaret during these past few months.
