Obituary of William Peter Mast
Mast: William Peter -
January 2, 1957 - January 12, 2023
On January 12, 2023, William (Bill) Mast took his last breath with his beloved family by his side, just 10 days after celebrating his 66th birthday and never taking a single day for granted.
Cherished son of Albert and Grace Mast, beloved brother to Peter and Alice Mast, Tina and Ben Schinkel, Helene and Albert Postma and Renee and Michael Martin.
Bill took great pride in family and his own roots that grew from his love for Susan, his children Brandon and Keshia Mast, Brett and Alyssa Mast and Breanna Mast and David Sim.
When diagnosed with ALS in 2008, it was uncertain whether he would see his first son wed, or kiss the cheeks of any sweet grandchildren, moments he could not bear to miss. Thus, the Lord works in triumphant ways and offers abundant healing, Bill continued to experience life's absolute blessings with the birth of his 10 grandchildren, Mackenzie Mast, Colton Mast, Brixton Mast, Ainslie Mast, Clayton Mast, Brody Bouchard, Adler Mast, Addison Mast, Nathan Sim and predeceased Emerson Mast.
It was not an easy journey for Bill to slowly feel his once strong and capable exterior become weak. He was always a hard working, determined man, never afraid to put in a long day's work for his family. Though his abilities lessened he remained steadfast in each task he could complete on the farm and in his career as owner of Mast Electric Ltd. from which he retired in 2020. There is no doubt that Bill's contribution to our world was abundant, full of love, rich wisdom and always a lot of laughter. Son-in-law to Marion Forsyth (late Donald), brother-in-law to Carol and John Henderson, also called nephew, uncle and dear friend, William Mast will surely be missed by all.
Family will receive friends at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 255 Tweedsmuir Ave W., Chatham on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 10:00am until the Funeral Service at 11:00am with Pastor Mike Borgert officiating. Private Family Interment to follow at McVicar Cemetery.
Donations made in memory of Bill to the ALS Society of Windsor or SickKids Foundation would be appreciated.
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
