Obituary of Bob Butler

James Robert “Bob” Butler
1946-2023

A resident of Chatham, James Robert “Bob” Butler passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, with his girls at his side, on March 7, 2023.

Born in Chatham, Bob was the son of the late Fred and Violet (Herbert) Butler.

Bob is survived by his two daughters Sara and Kristen.

Loving “Poppa” to Amirrah.

Baby brother to Doug, Allan, and the late Lloyd, Don, Bill and Shirley.

Uncle Bob to many nieces and nephews.

Bob worked for International Harvester (Navistar) for most of his life, retiring in the early 2000’s. He was a volunteer firefighter at the Grande Pointe station for many years when he lived in Dover Township. In his retirement years, he enjoyed driving for Underground Specialties where he continued to build his relationships within the community. You could often find him holding court over coffee and was a frequent patron of Flapjacks.

Family would like to thank Dr. Tran, Dr. Maria and the nursing staff of the ICU for the excellent care that was provided. Bob could not have been in better hands.

In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation will take place with interment at a later date.

Donations made in memory of Bob to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
