Obituary of Alister Thain

Thain: Alister Broddie -

A resident of Chatham, Alister Thain passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice with his loving family at his side on March 21, 2023 at the age of 80.

Born in Hamilton, Alister was the son of the late George and Jessie (nee Ridell) Thain.

Beloved husband of 58 years to Betty (nee Westman).

Dear father to Debra (Edward) Webster, Linda (Donald) Nichols, Lisa (Tom) Adams; Proud grandfather to Joseph (Melissa), Bradley (Tera), Jillian (Elliott), Andrew (Chantel), Jessica (Nick), Kayla (Josh), Megan, Brayden, Brandon and Darren; great-grandfather to Dylan, Hayden Maximus, Nayla and Violet.

Brother of Douglas (Ruthanne) Thain

Alister was a Union Carpenter his working life. He was a member of Carpenters and Joiners Local 494 until his retirement. Following his retirement he drove School Bus for First Student. He also enjoyed his time with the Chatham Aeronauts Flying Club.

Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street Chatham on Friday, March 24, 2023 for Memorial Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In keeping with Alister's wishes, cremation has taken place, he will be remembered privately at a later date.

Donations made in memory of Alister to the Chatham-Kent Hospice or the Oncology Unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance would be appreciated by the family.
