Obituary of Lucille Marie Cooper

Lucille Marie (nee Hanson) Cooper passed away peacefully at her home in London on Tuesday April 18, 2023 at the age of 98.

Beloved mother of Debra Cooper and the late Terry Cooper. Greatly missed by sisters Lorraine Brown-Johnston and sister-in-law Joan Hanson. Predeceased by sister Jean Ladd and brothers Clifford and Donald. 

Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. 

Lucille was a long time faithful member of First Baptist Church in Chatham until moving to London,  participating then at the North Park Community Church in London. She was a member of the Nancy Rebecca  Missionary Group and one of the founding members of the Chatham Kent Black Historical Society. Lucy worked many years as a laboratory aide at St Joseph's Hospital in Chatham. 

She was a Prayer Warrior, always reminding family and others that she prayed daily for each one. She loved to cook, especially sweets and enjoyed music, bowling and many trips with church groups and friends. She was an avid Toronto Blue Jay fan and missed few games. She could name each player, their age, statistics and homeland. She was very fond of her Blue Jay T-shirt and wore it often. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. Visitation will take place Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Funeral Celebration will take place at the Funeral Home on Friday April 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm. 

In memory of Lucille, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Diabetes Association.
