Obituary of Lana Koehler
Koehler: Lana Jean (née Secord) -
A resident of Thamesville, Lana Koehler passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice surrounded by her loving family and loyal companion Poncho by her side on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at the age of 80.
Born in Chatham, Lana was the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Barker) Secord.
Beloved wife of 47 years to the late Louis John Koehler (2011).
Loving mother of Tracy Koehler Massender of Blenheim and Kip Koehler of Thamesville.
Proud Grandma of McKenna (Kallum) and Cole.
Sister-in-law to the late Bruce Koehler (Grace) of Bayfield.
Dear aunt to Liz Koehler of Toronto.
Honourary mother to Bob Winter (Stacey) and John Winter (Linda). Best friend to Sharon Campbell-Rayment.
Dearly missed by her canine companions, Poncho, Bride and Junior as well as numerous pets.
Also missed by extended family, friends and her family at Hope House.
Lana enjoyed her career as a schoolteacher, retiring after over 30 years. She spent most of her career at Howard Harwich Moravian Public School.
Lana had a love for animals and the outdoors. She enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds on the farm. Horses were a big part of Lana's life. In the early years, many days were spent trail riding through the local bushes. Lana loved going up north and camping with Lou, where they would spend their time fishing and feeding chipmunks.
Lana's love of animals was only surpassed by her love for her grandchildren, McKenna and Cole, who she loved to the moon and back. Her time spent with them was her greatest joy.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 4:00 - 8:00pm.
A Celebration of Lana's Life will be held at the Funeral Home at 1:00pm on Friday, May 19, 2023 with Rev. Sharon Campbell-Rayment officiating. Private family interment to follow at Everitt Cemetery, Thamesville.
Donations made in memory of Lana to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or Pet and Wildlife Rescue would be appreciated by the family.
