Obituary of Mildred Huffman

HUFFMAN: Mildred Miranda (nee Wilson) - Aged 95, passed away with her family at her side at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Monday, June 5, 2023.

Daughter of the late Morley and Mabel (Walker) Wilson, Mildred was born on the leap year, February 29, 1928 and raised in Wabash. She later moved to Blenheim to begin her teaching career. She instilled in her family a love of learning and an acute awareness of spelling and grammar. She enjoyed painting, needlework and going to antique shows. She was a 50 year member of the I.O.D.E. in Blenheim. 

Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Stirling (1958) and of 53 years to the late John “Jack” Huffman (2013).

Cherished mother to Mark Stirling (Alice), Lisa Sykes (Chuck) and David Huffman (Laura), all of the Blenheim area.

Very proud Grandma to Todd Stirling (Krista), Tracy Wright (Eli), Shelby Huffman (Spencer Hammill), James Huffman (Danielle), Rebecca Sykes and Madeline Sykes.

Great-Grandma to Zachary Stirling, Kaylee Stirling, Violet Hammill and Mabel Huffman.

Predeceased by her siblings and in-laws Helen Hooper (Vaughn), Gerald Wilson (Dorothy), Bert Wilson (Lenora) and Mary Ellen Harrison (Merrill). Predeceased by her sister-in-law Helen Stewart (John).

Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 2:30pm until the Funeral Service at 3:30pm. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim at a later date.

Donations made in memory of Mildred to the Blenheim Food Bank (payable to Salvation Army Chatham-Kent) or Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
