Ann Parry Scarfone

Obituary of Ann Parry Scarfone

Our beloved Mother, M. Ann Parry Scarfone (nee Huffman), born April 12, 1930 in Blenheim, Ontario, resident of St. Andrew’s Retirement Residence in Chatham, and formerly of Chatham and Windsor, passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Monday, July 17th, 2023.

She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside and always welcoming to everyone she met.  She lived to help others and was loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

She is sadly mourned by her children Jann (Jim) Wickett, Jay (Marianne) Parry, Jill (Brian) Denson and Jon (Catherine) Parry.

She was the youngest daughter of the late Malcolm and Mildred (Clark) Huffman and sister to the late Margaret (Donald) Duff and the late Jack (Marilyn) Huffman.

She was a beloved Grandmother to Jamie Wickett (Kara Dannenhold), Jacqueline Warren (Jeffrey), Jordan Wickett (Lindsay Downey), Jessica Parry (Wes Rickman), Danielle Parry (Alfred Wao), Katie Parry (Brian Choja), Lindsay Williams (Tony), Stacey  Doyle (Chris), Ashley Denson,  Alyson Parry (Daniel Rogers), and Emma Parry (Michael Sheriff).

Ann went to High School at Blenheim District High School and Chatham Collegiate Institute and attended the University of Western Ontario.  She was married to the late Dr. Jack Parry and lived in Chatham where she ran his Anesthesia office in their home for many years while raising their four children and often helping with her many beloved relatives.  She was a volunteer at the hospital and loved curling, sailing and golfing but her favourite activity was playing bridge. She really appreciated her many friends at her Monday and Wednesday bridge club. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church in Chatham and Most Precious Blood in Windsor. When she was widowed, she married the late Dr. Francis Scarfone and lived in Windsor. They had many wonderful adventures together.

She is mourned by  Frank’s beloved children, Frank Scarfone (the late Catherine Yanchula), David (Josephine) Scarfone, Peter (Mary Beth) Scarfone, Mary Pat (Craig) Guthrie,  Maureen Scarfone, and Jim Scarfone as well as the Scarfone grandchildren Sarah Scarfone,  Christopher, Ashley, Rachel, Trevor, Lauren and Maddie Scarfone, Ryan, Hannah and Emily Guthrie.   She was much loved by her 13 great-grandchildren:  Liam, Aidan, Parry and Penny Warren; Norah, James and David Wickett; Madison and Jackson Williams; and Harper, Ryley and Avery Doyle.

She had many much loved nieces and nephews who also mourn her.

We are forever grateful to the wonderful people at her home, St. Andrew’s Residence, the doctors and nurses and staff at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, and the comforting care from the Chatham-Kent Hospice.  We are especially thankful to Dr. Katherine Bailey for her excellent care and compassion, especially during Ann’s illness.
