Obituary of Anne Karpiak

Karpiak, Anne (nee Shumka)

Anne Karpiak, 96, slipped away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home in Chatham, Ontario. 

Formerly of High Park, Toronto and Levack, Ontario, she was born the parents, Mike & Jessie (nee Kingerski) Shumka near Ethelbert, Manitoba, She received her education from Shaw's Business College and later Laurentian University. In 1948, she married Nestor Karpiak (dec, div) with whom she had a daughter, Beverly and a son, Garfield (dec). 

She is survived by her daughter, two grandchildren, Dylan and Rodney and five great-grandchildren. 

Predeceased by her beloved son, her parents, former husband and all of her siblings. Anne was the last one standing. 

Always on the move, if Anne wasn't working she was cooking, baking, gardening or playing cards. She loved to read to her children, granddaughter, and great-grandchildren and was a friend to all in her job as a Secretary at Levack Public School. She was an avid bowler and active in the Order of the Royal Purple. 

As her health declined, Anne enjoyed good times with her immediate family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 at Cardinal Funeral Home - Annette Chapel, 92 Annette Street, Toronto from 10:00 am until the Service at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in Park Lawn Cemetery, Toronto.
