Bechard: Gerard Norman -

A resident of R.R. # 7 Chatham, and formerly of Grande Pointe, Gerard Bechard passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with his family at his side on Monday, August 14, 2023 at the age of 89.

Born in Chatham, Gerard was the son of the late Alcide and Gertrude (née Charron) Bechard.

Beloved husband of 62 years to Shirley Ann Bechard (née Johnston).

Father of Gerard Bechard and Robert Bechard.

Proud Pipi to his grandchildren, Justin Bechard (Lisa), Danielle Clayburn (Nick) and Skye Teather and great-granddaughters Haidyn and Olivia.

Brother to Yvonne O'Neill (Dan), the late Cecile Bechard, Roland Bechard (Carol) and Joanne Bechard-Bennett.

Brother-in-law to the late Carl Johnston (Norma), Inez Lucier (late Gerald), the late Marvin Johnston (Marilyn) and Wayne Johnston.

Dearly missed by his canine companion Milo.

Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Jerry retired from International Harvester after over 35 years of service. He also ran "Jerry's Welding" from his shop at his home for 50 years.

Jerry was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Chatham.

Wherever you found Jerry, you could often hear country music.

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 11:00am until 1:00pm. A Graveside Service will be held following the visitation at 1:30pm at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.

Donations made in memory of Jerry to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
