MOON: Mike
A lifelong resident of Chatham, Mike Moon passed away peacefully at home with family at his side on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at the age of 69.
Born in Chatham, Mike was the son of Ron and Mary (Whaley) Moon. Son-in-law to the late Wilfred and Jean (Cole) Kelly.
Beloved husband of 49 years to Cheryl (nee Kelly).
Loving father of Charity Melnyk (Steve) of Chatham.
Proud Papa (Pups) to Kaylee Melnyk and Evan Melnyk.
Brother-in-law to Sandy Gray (Don).
Uncle to Danielle and Kelly Gray.
Dearly missed by family friend Kristen Alexander and his canine companion Finlay.
Mike retired from Navistar after 31 1/2 years of service. He enjoyed playing hockey from the time he could walk until his 40's. He also loved the game of golf and succeeded in meeting his life's goal of visiting St. Andrew's Golf Course in Scotland.
Mike, also known as "Mr. Get Along" or "Leno" had an outgoing personality and always knew how to make people laugh.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 3:00 - 5:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. Cremation to follow.
Donations made in memory of Mike to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
