Obituary of Ken Turner
(William) Kenneth Turner - Jun 19, 1935, to Sep 8, 2023
The family of Ken Turner is saddened to announce his passing at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Friday, September 8, 2023. Our hearts ache but we take great comfort in knowing he is no longer in any pain. The hurt is ours to carry now as we all learn to live without him.
Son of the late Gordon and Edna (Jones) Turner. Ken was the loving husband of Shirley (Traylor) for 70 years. He will be missed by his daughter Tracy Bartlett (Kevin) and son Scott (Becky). Predeceased by daughter Shari (1964).
Deeply missed by granddaughters Cassidy Donnell (Brandon), Taylor Ecker (Brandon), Lauren Turner and Rachel Turner. Beloved great grampa of Rainn Donnell. Brother to June Coakley (Bob), Mark Turner, (Patty), and the late Richard Turner (Karen). He is survived by many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Dad was the proud business owner of Hall and Turner Garage for many years and a skilled auto mechanic. If he couldn’t fix your car, it likely couldn’t be fixed. After he sold his garage, he continued to work at local automotive parts suppliers, enjoying his time spent with fellow co-workers and community members. He was a voracious reader and consummate crossword puzzle solver. His memory for numbers defied logic: if at any time he knew your birthday or phone number, chances are he still knew it. A local historian and avid camper, family enjoyed many weekends sharing stories around the campfire. We could always count on him for solid, good advice whether it be about finances or cars, he was the smartest man we knew. He was blessed with quick wit and a wicked sense of humour so not only would you get a funny one-liner, but it would also be delivered impeccably. Proud former president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ridgetown Branch 243, he took great pride in service to his community.
Thank you to the staff and residents at Villa on the Ridge and Blenheim Community Village for their care, support, and kindness. Thank you to Windsor Regional Hospital (Ouellette Campus) and the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (Chatham Campus) for their medical expertise and care.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown.
Donations made in memory of William Kenneth to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 243 would be appreciated by the family.
