Our hearts broke Sunday, September 24, 2023 as Scott Heuvelmans passed away with his loving wife Nicole holding his hand at the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
Beloved husband and best friend of Nicole Heuvelmans (nee Ternoey).
Best father of Anastasia (Noah) Leschyna and Joshua Heuvelmans (Megan Arsenault).
Proud Opa to Ellianna Leschyna.
Eldest son of Ann (VanUden) and the late Theo Heuvelmans (May 2023).
Best son-in-law of Jack and Anna (DeJonghe) Ternoey.
Brother to Cynthia (Cliff) White and Jason (Sara) Heuvelmans.
Proud Uncle to his nephews Fraser, Gabriel and Xavier and niece Alexandra.
Also missed by many friends and extended family.
Scott was the successful business owner of Heuvelmans Chev in Chatham.
He enjoyed woodworking, and was an avid outdoorsman, often found back country camping and hunting with friends and family. Scott inherited his love of nature from his father Theo and passed that love down to his children. Together Scott's family has planted over 7,000 trees and created a two acre wetland and prairie habitat through the LTVCA, ALUS and Ducks Unlimited on their properties.
Scott was known to quote movies and sing lines from his favourite songs. He will be remembered for his gentle and kind nature.
Special thank you to our helping family and friends, his doctors, PSW care partners, Bayshore nurses, therapists, LHIN staff and all Chatham-Kent Hospice staff.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 145 Victoria Ave, Chatham at 10:00am on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim.
Donations made in memory of Scott to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
