Obituary of Catherine Armour Weir
Catherine Armour Weir - October 30 1930 to September 25 2023. It is with sadness and love that the family of Catherine Armour Weir (nee. Egan) annouce that Catherine passed away peacefully early Monday morning at the CK-Hospice.
She was the beloved daughter of Isobel (nee. Smith) and Thomas Egan, the cherished wife of Charles Howden Weir (Predeceased 1999) and the loving mother of Catherine Danna Weir.
Born and raised in Montreal, Catherine and Charles moved to Chatham in retirement to be near their daughter and grandchildren, the true delights of their lives. Catherine had a quiet and gentle nature and took tremendous pleasure in reading… in particular murder mysteries! Any one of many family dogs was never far from her side. Her greatest pleasure, however, came from her interaction with family and friends. A lifelong member of the United Church of Canada, she also volunteered for several different agencies, in particular the V.O.N. (Outreach by Telephone program).
An incredibly proud Grandmother, and Great-grandmother, “Nanny” will be sorely missed by her grandchildren, Daniel Wolski and his wife, Deb Gourgy, Alexis Wolski and her husband, Joe Brownett and Theo Wolski and her husband, Matt Davis and their children, Isobel, Abigail and Benjamin Wolski, Edwin and Grace Brownett and Charles Davis.
Catherine’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the caring and truly compassionate staff of Maple City Retirement Home, as well as to its residents and to Dr. Dax Biondi and his staff. The family would also like to thank the wonderful women of Bayshore and the V.O.N. and their empathetic volunteers. A deep debt of gratitude is extended to both the amazing staff and the volunteers of the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
A visitation will be held at Mckinlay Funeral Homes at 459 St.Clair Street, Chatham, ON, from 12:00p.m. to 1:00p.m. Thursday September 28th 2023. A funeral service for Catherine will follow at 1:00p.m.
Donations in Catherine’s memory may be made to the Chatham-Kent Public Library, the Canadian Cancer Society or CK-Hospice.
