Obituary of Irma Lobbestael

Lobbestael: Irma Joyce (nee Cudney) -

A lifelong resident of Blenheim, Irma Lobbestael passed away at her home, with family at her side on Monday, October 2, 2023 at the age of 98.

Born in Caradoc Township, Irma was the daughter of the late Grover and Amy (Humphrey) Cudney.

Beloved wife of the late Edward Lobbestael (1978).

Loving and cherished mother of Eric Lobbestael (Bernadette), David Lobbestael and Susan Defour (Scott Mahan).

Proud Grandma of Adam Lobbestael, Erin O'Connor (Kevin) and Stephen Lobbestael (Katlin).

Great-Grandma to Victoria, Claire, Kyla.

Predeceased by her sisters Evelyn McDougall, Monta Cudney, Zelma Cudney, May Luther, Fay Heatherington and brothers Gerald, Ralph and Wilbur.

Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Irma is a graduate of Blenheim Public and High Schools and London Normal School. She was a member of the former Blenheim United Church and Unit 3 UCW.

Irma was a teacher for 35 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Retired Teachers of Ontario.

Irma will be remembered for her no nonsense sharp wit, her storytelling, her generosity and her devotion to her family and her church community.

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 11:00am until the Celebration of her life at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim.
