Monk, Frances (nee Russchen)
A resident of Chatham, formerly of Grande Pointe, Frances (Fran) Monk passed away peacefully, at the age of 90, with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home.
She was the daughter of the late Gerben & Margaret (nee Hamlett) Russchen.
Remembered always by her husband of 69 beautiful years, Leslie Monk.
Forever loved by her children, Helen Bennett (Jamie), David Monk (Cody), Diane Rota (Michael) & Linda Lemon.
Grandma of Eric Bennett (Megan), Rachel Bennett (Chad), Kaitlyn Rota (Masen), Nick Rota, Michael Lemon, & Jason Lemon.
Great-grandma of Eleanor, Miles & Marlee.
Sister of Murray Russchen (Sonja) & the late Larry Russchen.
Survived by sister-in-law, Ann Russchen.
Sister-in-law of the late Lillian Murphy (the late Cal), Shirley Morrison (the late Wilfred), the late Marion Pourquoi (the late Ken), Elsie Morrison (Archie) & Caroline Williams (John).
Missed by many nieces & nephews.
Fran graduated from Chatham Public General Hospital in 1954 as a Registered Nurse. She practiced her nursing with the Pines but her main career was as a Homemaker being the best mom & grandma. She was an active member of New St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Dover and enjoyed her time as President of the Heather Club. Fran loved to garden, knitting, crocheting and was the best pie maker, titled the Queen of Pie Crust.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Floor 4East with Riverview Gardens Nursing Home for their constant care and compassion during Fran's time there.
Family to receive friends on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 2:00 - 4:00 pm & 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Stewart Cemetery.
In memory of Fran, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or to New St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Dover.
