Obituary of Angela Fanelli
Fanelli: Angela (nee O’Neil) of Chatham died peacefully on her birthday at her residence on Monday, December 4, 2023. She was born in Chatham, 87 years ago the daughter of the late J.B. and Alice O’Neil. She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years Ralph (2015) and their daughter Maureen (1980).
She is survived by her loving children, Joe (Patty), Karen Jones (Sheldon) and Jane Brown (Jerome); 12 grandchildren; J.B. Fanelli(Stephanie), Janine Weber (Mike), Jay Fanelli (Kristen), Julie Fanelli, Adam Jones (Tonia), Maureen Houston (Rory), Amanda McCabe (Adam), Myles Jones ( Leann), Catherine Handsor (Mathew), Christine Pace (Kyle), Allison Brown and Elizabeth Brown. Cherished great-grandmother to 20. She is survived by her sisters in-law Louise Schincariol (late husband Aldo), and Angie (Vincent) DellaValle. Angela will also be dearly missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Along with her husband Ralph, Angela was one of the co-founders of Maple City Bakery in Chatham (1960) where she made her presence felt on a daily basis. She was a Registered Nurse at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chatham and active member of St. Agnes Church.
A special thank you is extended to Dr. Don Hastings and the incredible staff of Chatham-Kent VON Palliative Care, Red Cross Care Partners and VON- ehomecare. Their extraordinary care and support allowed Mom to spend her final days in the comfort of her own home.
Resting at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, December 8, 2023 at St. Agnes Church, 52 Croydon St. Chatham at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Chatham.
Memorial donations to honour Angela's life can be made to the VON Palliative Care Nursing Program-Chatham Kent or the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
