Obituary of Leonard "Len"` Deneau

Leonard Deneau, a resident of Chatham, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the age of 96.

He was the son of the late Alexander & Victoria (nee Rose) Deneau. 

Len will be reunited with his late wife, Madeline (nee Couture, 2015). 

Proud father of Brian Deneau (Wendy), the late Charles Deneau (2002), Doug Deneau (the late Deborah, 2023), Sherry Allen (Mike), Cathy Foster (Randy), Pam Taylor (Blake), and Pat Deneau (Cathy). 

Remembered by his 19 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great-grandchildren. 

Brother of Maxine Throssel (Larry) & Diane Marentette (Ted).

Brother-in-law of Geraldine Deneau & Betty Deneau. 

Predeceased by his 9 siblings and 1 grandson.

Missed by many nieces, nephews & extended family. 

The family would like extend their sincere appreciation to the 2nd floor staff of Riverview Gardens Nursing Home for their exceptional care and compassion for Len throughout his 9 years there. 

Len retired after 30 years of Service from Ontario Steel in 1979. After retirement, he and Father Worm volunteered with the Priest Club at Couture's Beach for over 25 years. Len lived on Lake St. Clair and knew the best spots to fish. He loved to fish, hunt and was a master of Crib. Len & Madeline enjoyed traveling throughout Canada and Alaska. He will be forever missed by his family. 

Family to receive friends on Friday, December 8 2023 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 2:00 - 4:00 pm & 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday at Blessed Sacrament, 145 Victoria Ave, Chatham at 10:00 am. 

Cremation to follow. 

In memory of Len, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
