Obituary of Gordon James Hill

Gordon James Hill peacefully passed away at Copper Terrace Long Term Care Home, in Chatham, Ontario on December 11, 2023.

Gordon was born in Sarnia, Ontario on June 27, 1936. He was formerly from Woodstock Ontario.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Iris (nee. Terry) of Chatham, and his children Barbara Hill of Chatham and Jim Hill (Laurie) of Hanover.

Grandpa to Ashley Lansbergen (Francis) of Hanover and Stephanie Brown (Dylan) of Chelsey. Great-Grandpa to Maelyn and Austin Lansbergen of Hanover.

Gordon is also survived by his sister Esther Smith (Ross) of Red Deer Alberta and his brother Ken Hill (Lynda) of Sarnia, Ontario. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

Gordon was predeceased by his parents Vaughn and Vida Hill and infant brother Vaughn and his brother Bill and sister in law Leila Hill.

Gordon was a farmer for 19 years and a truck driver for 36 years.  In his retirement he enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He didn’t always catch “the big one” but he was very patient and hopeful each time he went out.

The family would like to Thank the Staff of Copper Terrace for their care and kindness to Gordon during his short time there. The family appreciates their thoughtfulness.

A visitation will take place on Saturday December 16th, 2023 at McKinlay Funeral Homes in Chatham from 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. with a service to follow promptly at 2:00p.m. with the Rev. Elaine Wilcox officiating.
