Waddick: Maurice Joseph -
A resident of Chatham, Maurice Waddick passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice with family at his side on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the age of 81.
Born in Chatham, Maurice was the son of the late Harold and Laura (née O'Neil) Waddick.
Beloved husband of 61 years to Katherine "Kay" Waddick (née Lindsay).
Loving father to Janice Waddick (Julie Skarja) and Paul Waddick (Sarah Wilson).
Proud Papa to Cody Waddick, Ashley Davis (Cory Harris), Ryan Davis, Tara Wilson and Makayla Wilson.
Dear brother of the late Edward Waddick (late Suzanne), the late Mary Pinsonneault (late John), the late Donald Waddick (Yvette), Bob Waddick (Agnes), Angela Roy (late Roger), Ursula Pumphrey (Stewart), Frank Waddick, the late Joe Waddick, Tony Waddick (Nadia), Michael Waddick (Carmel).
Brother-in-law to Barb Cowlan (Bert) and Mark Lindsay (Joanne). Predeceased by brother-in-law Chuck Lindsay (Libby).
Dearly missed by his best friends Jim and Pat Waddick.
Also missed by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Maurice was a lifetime farmer and founder of Waddick Transport. He enjoyed contributing to the agricultural industry, having been a member of the Ontario Soybean Grower Marketing Board for over 18 years. He participated as Chair as well as Director and Committee Member. He was the representative for the Soybean Board to the U.S. between 1986 and 1987.
Maurice loved golfing with his friends in both Chatham and Florida. He was proud to have restored numerous antique International tractors over the years.
Maurice will be remembered for his wit and winning smile.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Ursula's Roman Catholic Church, 205 Tweedsmuir Ave W., Chatham at 11:00am on Saturday, December 23, 2023. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Chatham.
Donations made in memory of Maurice to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
