A resident of Chatham, Jenny Anderson (nee Harris), passed away at the Copper Terrace Long Term Care Home on December 19, 2023 at the age of 84 surrounded by family.
Born in Montreal, Genevieve was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marguerite (nee Buchanan) Harris.
Cherished mother to Marty Chapple (Allyson) of Brantford, Joe Chapple (Pam) of Ajax, and Donna Kucera (Rick) of Chatham. Beloved mother-in-law to Barb Chapple of Toronto. Proud grandmother to Brandi (Ian), Steven, Danielle, Laura, Lee, Jana, and Logan and great-grandmother to Loren, Alexis, and Dezeray.

She was loved and will be missed by several nieces and nephews.
Jenny worked as a school secretary for the Catholic School Board. Her commitment to the job extended beyond the daily responsibilities. She assisted with programs within the school and even coached teams. Jenny also enjoyed coaching girls’ softball, youth bowling and was a long-standing volunteer with Special Olympics. Christ Church, The Heart and Stroke Foundation and The Royal Canadian Legion were other organizations who benefitted from her volunteerism.
In her “free time” Jenny loved to garden, golf, bowl, sew, bake, and travel around the province visiting her grandchildren and family. The breakfast ladies (Betty Rupert, Mary Leyte, Linda Denys, Barb McGregor, and Donna French) were an integral part of her life, and she cherished their friendship.
Visitation will take place on Friday December 29, 2023 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home located at 459 St. Clair Street in Chatham. A Celebration of Life will follow in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Jenny to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Special Olympics would be appreciated by the family.
