Obituary of Julia Kozlof
KOZLOF: December 30, 1922 - December 25, 2023 (days shy of reaching 101)
With sadness, pride and loving memory we children, Kathy (nee Kozlof) Cowlin (Fred) and Fred Kozlof Jr. (Shelley) announce the passing of dear Julia.
Julia’s life journey began when she was born in Radejov, Czechoslovakia in 1922. As a young child, with her mom and brother they took on the brave voyage to Canada in 1927, toiled on her father’s farm in the Chatham area, spent her entire married life in Blenheim with husband Fred from 1947-2012, the latter part as his caregiver for Alzheimers. In 2018, she so enjoyed receiving care at Village on the Ridge, Ridgetown, then at Richmond Terrace, Amherstburg when she moved in Aug, 2023 to be close to family again for 4 special months! Finally she passed in the tender loving hands of staff at Windsor Regional Hospital, Ouellette Campus.
Julia enjoyed crocheting in earlier times, baking, singing, dancing, but most of all was her green thumb creating the nicest floral gardens. She continued her gardening hobby right into her 90’s despite physical limitations and pain that did not deter her from living the fullest life she could.
She always embraced and never waivered in her Catholic faith and Czech culture.
Julia impressed all with her intelligence way beyond her grade 8 education, her good memory, warmed people with her smile and sense of humour. We celebrated a happy Christmas morning together, and then later in the afternoon God called her to his garden, to once again be with her sweetheart Fred. She shared the holiday with all of us!
Julia was the proud grandmother to Jennifer (nee Kozlof) Singleton (Eric), David Cowlin (Nancy) and Brian Cowlin, great grandma to Alyssa, Ethan and Sidney Cowlin along with many cherished god children/nieces and nephews and their children who excelled at regularly reaching out to her.
Dear Sister to the late Joseph Mojzis Jr. (late Mary) and Mary Badura (late Charles). Predeceased by her mother Mary (nee Pavlinak) and Joseph Mojzis.
