Obituary of Joan Margaret Doughty

Joan Margaret Doughty, a resident of Dryden, formerly of Perth & Chatham, left this world and went to be with her Lord and Saviour at the Dryden Regional Health Centre on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the age of 84.

She was the daughter of the late Albert & Margaret (nee McCracken) Skipper.

Joan will be reunited with her late husband, Patrick Donald Doughty (2008) and infant son, James Patrick Doughty (1961).

Dear mother of her three daughters; Susan Whiticar (Mark), Dawn Doughty (Larry) & Gay (Libby) Doughty.

Proud grandmother of Aaron, James, Rachel & Rebekah Whiticar, Patrick & Kelsi Doughty.

Fond great grandmother of Emery, Kane, Liam, Jensen, and Raelynn.
 
Sister of David & Georgette (predeceased) Skipper, Donald & Yvonne (predeceased) Skipper, Michael (predeceased) & Sharron Skipper, Brian & Shelley Skipper.

Joan had a small business for many years in Chatham.

She later worked for CIBC. 

Both she and her husband Pat retired to Perth. Joan and Pat loved living on their acreage near Perth. In their retirement they enjoyed many adventures as they travelled in their motorhome. Joan was active in many churches throughout her life.

In Perth, Joan was active for many years in many groups and clubs, including: the Perth Horticultural Society, the Quilters Guild, the Literary Society, and book clubs. Joan loved to quilt and left a legacy of quilts to be remembered for.

Family to receive friends on Friday, January 12, 2023 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 12:15 pm until a Funeral Service of Joan's life at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. 

In memory of Joan, donations may be made to the Canadian Arthritis Society directed for research in giant cell arteritis.
