Obituary of Twyla Kent
KENT: Twyla Mable (nee Donnell)
February 19, 1926 - February 1, 2024
Pre-deceased by her husband Albert Leo Kent (1997), her mother Sadei Donnell (1926), father David Donnell (1958), foster Dad Lorne Burchiel (1936), foster Mom Bertha Burchiel-Craford (1979), and StepGrandfather James Craford.
Survived by children Brenda Alway (Dave) of Sarnia, Doug Kent of Belle River, Shirley Butler (Carl) of Chatham, Dave Kent (Brenda) of Chatham, Ron Kent (Betty) of Chatham, and Sandy Bean (Larry) of Chatham.
She is survived by many grand children and great grand children, who lit up her life.
Mother worked many years at Chrysler's and quit to raise her family of 6 children. As the children grew older, she decided to go back to work on a night shift at the Chatham Jail, from there she worked for the OPP station in Chatham as a secretary, until her retirement. Mom, worked just as hard as a volunteer for the Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, and The Active Life Style Centre. She was a long time member of Erskine United Church in Blenheim, 4th Line United Church Blenheim, Park Street United Church Chatham and St. Andrews United Church Chatham. She spent 50 years every Sunday in the junior nursery at Park Street, an active member of UCW, and sat on many committees within the church.
Mother treasured her time with family and friends. Her last few days were filled with a lot of great memories. The family wishes to thank the staff at Riverview Gardens, for going above and beyond, to make our family always feel welcomed and comfortable through this difficult time, you became a very important member of mothers family during her stay at Riverview.
In her final days, she was surrounded by family and friends as she said her last farewell.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Funeral Home, 459 St Clair Street, Chatham on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at St. Andrew's United Church, 85 William Street South, Chatham from 10:00 a.m. until the Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Andrew's United Church or Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation and would be appreciated by the family.
