Obituary of Joanne Taylor

Taylor, Joanne (nee Rule)

A life long resident of Chatham, Joanne Taylor (nee Rule) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at St. Andrew's Residence on Monday, February 12, 2024 at the age of 88.

She was the daughter of the late James & Marion (nee Shewburg) Rule. 

Beloved wife of Howard "Howie" Taylor (1997). Joanne is predeceased by her two sons, James Taylor (2014) & Scott Taylor (2002).

Joanne is survived by her brother, Robert (Joanne Goodal) Rule and her daughter Judy Vander Pol.

Joanne was the loving Grandmother to Melissa (Cass) Opiela, Michael (Laura) Taylor, Heather Vander Pol, Stephanie (Jarrod) DeNure and Allison (Lee) Giffin. 

Great-grandmother of Emily (Adam), Kobi (Meagan), Carson, Adelyn, Emmerson, Wellington, Tennyson, Anderson and Locklan. 

Great-great-grandmother to Reese. 

Joanne was a very strong, proud and independent woman that was inspired by the love of her family. She had many friends and loved to travel.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of St. Andrew's Residence for their care and compassion during Joanne's time with them. 

As per Joanne's wishes, cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest with her husband at a later date. 

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 11:00 am until the Service at 12:00 pm.

In memory of Joanne, donations may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
