Volkes: Michael Thomas-
A resident of Chatham, Michael Volkes passed away at the Copper Terrace Long Term Care Home on February 24, 2024 at the age of 77.
Born in Chatham, Michael was the son of the late John and Irene (née German) Volkes.
Beloved husband of 52 years to Roberta (née Hutton).
Dear father to Tom (Jennifer) Volkes, Tim Volkes; and daughter Rebecca (John) Curtis.
Proud grandfather to Michael Jr., Jason, Layne, Zander and Skylar.
Survived by his sisters Rosemary Grover (late Robert), Patsy Stratford (Brian Drummond) and Barbara Loyer (Dennis); brothers Peter Volkes (Janet) and Greg Volkes (Jan).
Michael was a retired employee of Eaton Yale and Oxford Automotive. In his retirement he enjoyed woodworking and making projects for his children and grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service to celebrate Michaels life will be held in the Funeral Home on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.
Donations made in memory of Michael to the Canadian Cancer Society or Christ Church Chatham would be appreciated by the family.
