Obituary of Doug Darby
DARBY, Douglas John
Formerly of Harrow, ON, Doug Darby passed away peacefully on March 17, 2024 in Chatham. Doug was the son of the late John and Ruth Darby. He is survived by his sisters Elizabeth (Roderick) McColl, Gibsons, BC; Kathryn (Roger) Magnusson, Goshen, KY; and by his brother Charles (Diane) Darby, Tillsonburg, ON. Uncle to Matthew and Chris McColl, Kristin and Dennis Magnusson, Jessica Vallaeys, Caitlin and Graham Darby and great uncle to several nephews and nieces.
Doug will be missed by his family and by the friends he made over his years in Chatham, and by his Stirling Lane family. His good nature and sense of humor encouraged friends and family alike.
Family and friends are invited to gather at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until the Funeral Service to celebrate Doug's life at 3:00 p.m. Rev John Maroney officiating. Cremation to follow.
His family extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Community Living Chatham-Kent, to Natalie Jansen and the staff at Stirling Lane who provided exceptional care, and to the wonderful doctors and nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Community Living Chatham-Kent, PO Box 967, 650 Riverview Drive, Unit 2, Chatham, ON, N7M SL3, or to the charity of your choice and would be appreciated by the family.
